As a mixed woman of color born and raised in Boston in a traditional West Indian home of immigrant parents, I am the product of a diverse mixture of Trinidadian, Indian & Syrian ethnic roots.

My unique upbringing has given me a resourceful and resilient panoramic view of life as a first generation American immigrant; views which I believe make me an incredible resource in any classroom, as well as for students in the Boston School systems.

BPS at a Glance Stats reports a disproportionate ratio of student diversity demographics to that of staff. There are 62% white teachers and nearly 50% White Principals and Administrators to represent and teach to a minority of 13% White and a majority population of 35% Black and 41% Hispanic students.

I am the change necessary to fill in the gaps in the diversity of educators and maximize the positive experiences of Boston children.

I am a passionate professional educator woman and mother with a diverse background ranging from Music, Performance, Songwriting, substitute teaching, marketing , event planning and training in developing music curriculum aligned for special education services.

My employment history reflects my various passions in life which have always been multi-faceted as I have journeyed towards my life's purpose which is working in education and I seek a school I can call home.

Early in life I was inspired by music as a social change engine through singing and songwriting. My creative gifts got me into Berklee College of Music where I studied professional music and business.

I have always had a tireless passion for working with children and youth, wether it was as a teen camp counselor, a volunteer daycare assistant, a long term substitute, a paraprofessional in training, music group organizer or lead music teacher.

I have worked as a teacher at a Turnaround school, The Harbor School, now known as the Henderson. The magnetism that students and I have is palpable. I am often praised for having a connectedness to students which reaches beyond the many years some educators spend with their students. It is this type of compassionate and invested relationship that is required to bring about true social justice and equity in the classroom and educational success for the students of Boston Schools. I have also worked in the historic and high need neighborhood of Dorchester at the King school for nearly two years providing rich curriculum as music teacher and choral director. Most recently I ventured into the Charter system working with middle and high school students at the Neighborhood House Charter School and had an eye opening experience into the severe needs for well resourced and supported arts classrooms.

My lived experiences as a native Boston born West Indian woman of color enables this kind of connectivity and comfort with the community I seek to serve.

I am seen standing with Gov. Duval Patrick after performing a song the Governor office commissioned me to write for the Commonwealth Corps. Awards ceremony in 2010. The song is entitled "Blind Citizens."
